The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has confirmed it will investigate the behaviour of players and officials, during the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

The game between Senegal and hosts Morocco in Rabat descended into chaos close to full time after two refereeing decisions went against Senegal.

Ismaila Sarr’s goal was cancelled, before the Atlas Lions were awarded a penalty, which Brahim Diaz eventually missed.

But the call led to Senegal fans kicking off in the stands, with the players and coaches also becoming invloved.

Senegal coach, Pape Thiaw, then ordered his players off the field, before they were called back by Sadio Mané.

CAF said in a statement: “The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.

“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers.

“CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.”
