Manchester United forward, Matheus Cunha has said that Arsenal are the best team in the world after Manchester United beat the Premier League leaders 3-2 on Sunday.
Arsenal’s shaky performance kept going at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as Mikel Arteta’s team lost 3-2 in an exciting and close match.
The Gunners began the game strongly and took the lead when Lisandro Martinez scored an own goal.
However, United equalized through Bryan Mbeumo before the first half break.
In the 84th minute, Arsenal managed to equalize when Mikel Merino headed the ball into the net from a corner, cancelling out Patrick Dorgu’s impressive goal.
It seemed like Arsenal were in control, but Carrick’s team pushed forward and scored a rare victory at the Emirates Stadium with a wonderful curled shot from Cunha.
The result has reduced Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League to just four points, while Manchester United moved up into the Champions League spots, ahead of both Liverpool and Chelsea.
Cunha was proud of the courage United displayed and said they defeated the best team in the world, Arsenal.
“We defeated the best team in the world,” he told BBC Sport.
“I think we displayed strength and determination as a team. We know what to expect, come here, I really think this is the best team in the world right now.
“They’ve played with Mikel [Arteta] for a long time, so they know all his tactics and everything he feels. We know how tough it will be to come here, but we are united and everything we do is to win the games.
On the impact Carrick has made since becoming United’s caretaker manager, Cunha said, “He understands the feeling because he played here for many years.”
