The Enugu State police command has arrested four suspects in separate operations for alleged drug trafficking.

A statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, says large quantities of substances suspected to be cannabis, hard drugs, cash sum of N1,800,000.00 and other incriminating exhibits were recovered during their arrest.

Ndukwe mentioned that while acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, on 26th January 2026 at about 11:30 a.m., raided a criminal hideout located behind New Market, Enugu, and arrested a suspected female drug peddler, Omeru Nkechi (aged 46). He said exhibits recovered from the suspect include one big bag of substance suspected to be Indian hemp; one big roll of wire; six rolls of 1.5mm electric wires; assorted off-cut wires; one water-pumping machine; one POS machine; two ATM cards; and a cash sum of ₦1,800,000.00.

Similarly, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Squad, while on crime-prevention patrol and acting on actionable intelligence, on 25th January 2026 at about 9:00 a.m., stormed identified black spots in Obeagu, Asata, and the Holy Ghost Railway Area, within and around the Enugu metropolis, and arrested three male suspects, namely Anielozie Emmanuel (aged 21), Ekoh Miracle (aged 20), and Nwachukwu Michael (aged 27), a suspected member of the Vikings Confraternity. Recovered from the suspects were thirty-two (32) small containers filled with substances suspected to be cannabis, one sachet of substance also suspected to be cannabis, and twelve (12) wrapped pills suspected to be hard drugs.

He added that discreet investigations to further arrest other suspects and dismantle the criminal drug-peddling networks are ongoing.
