The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has officially dismissed a protest made by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football, FRMF, concerning alleged infractions committed by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football, FSF, during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, final.

CAF disclosed this in a statement via their official website on Wednesday.

NEWSUNPLUG reports that Morocco had submitted an appeal to CAF under Articles 82 and 84 regarding Senegal’s conduct during the AFCON final.

Morocco’s protest was centered around purported violations of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON Regulations, specifically in relation to the AFCON final.

Article 82 states that any team that withdraws, refuses to play, or leaves the pitch before the end of the match without the referee’s authorization must be considered the loser and eliminated from the competition.

Article 84 reinforces this principle, specifying that a team violating these provisions shall be eliminated for good, with the match awarded 3–0 to the opponent unless a more favorable score was already recorded.

These regulations mirror precisely what unfolded during the final, where Senegal temporarily left the pitch amid tense and chaotic scenes.

However, following a thorough review of the evidence and circumstances surrounding the claims, the CAF Disciplinary Board concluded that there were insufficient grounds to uphold the protest.

Morocco lost the AFCON final 1-0 against Senegal after 120 minutes of intense clash.

Pape Gueye scored the game’s only goal in the first half of extra time as the Teranga Lions emerged champions of Africa.
