The ongoing reorganization in Enyimba Football Club of Aba has taken a new dimension as the Sporting Director of the Club, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, has said that he resigned from his job voluntarily, and not sacked.
Ekwueme, who was a former Nigeria Super Eagles player, in a statement he personally signed, said he was not sacked from his duty, as being claimed by some club fans.
Ekwueme was an influential member of the Enyimba management, playing key roles in recruitment of players, restructuring of playing squad, maintenance of internal discipline, and long-term sporting plans, before his exit.
But the former Enyimba Sporting Director while dismissing the criticism trailing his performance in the Aba team, described his time in the club as fulfilling and dedicated.
“I wish to clearly state that my exit from Enyimba FC was entirely voluntary and honourable. I was not sacked, dismissed, or forced out of the club.
“After careful reflection, I formally submitted my resignation to the Chairman in good faith, in order to attend to other personal and professional commitments,” Ekwueme said.
While thanking Governor Alex Otti for his support for Enyimba, Ekwueme also appreciated the Chairman of the Club, Kanu Nwankwo, players, staff and football fans for their cooperation.
