Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed up to six EPL clubs are fighting to win the Premier League, Champions League and other trophies this season.
In the January window that closed on Monday night, City signed Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, meaning they have spent over £450 million in the last 12 months.
But Guardiola, speaking to the media on Tuesday, argued that six clubs have a higher net spend than City in the last five years.
I’m a little bit sad and upset because for the net spend for the last five years we are seventh in the Premier League, I want to be the first,” he said.
“We won in the past because we spent a lot, but now six teams have to win the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup because they spent more in the last five years.
“This is a fact, not an opinion.”
