Morocco are ready to appeal the decision that led to fines of $415,000 and match bans, following the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the country’s football federation confirmed on Tuesday.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, fined both Morocco and Senegal, over incidents that happened during the match.

Senegal, who won 1-0 after extra time, will not challenge CAF’s decision.

Morocco’s football federation and national team player Ismael Saibari were each fined a total of $415,000.

During the final, ball boys tried to take a towel from Senegal’s goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy. This single incident resulted in a $200,000 fine for the Atlas Lions.

But the North Africans believe the punishment from CAF was too harsh.

“In light of the mismatch between these sanctions and the scale and seriousness of the events, the FRMF has decided to challenge these decisions,” the Moroccan football federation said in a statement.
