Luka Modric, Marcelo and Vinicius Junior, who used to play with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid, have shared their thoughts after the Frenchman scored a hat-trick in his first match with Al-Hilal.
Benzema, 38, made a big move on the last day of the transfer window by moving from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal on a free transfer
Three days after his move was finalized, the French player scored his first goal for Al-Hilal, beating Al-Okhdood in a 6-0 victory.
Benzema scored first just after the 30-minute mark in a neat way, using a back-heel move after getting a loose ball in the box.
The former Real Madrid player doubled his score at the hour mark with a low shot from close range and finished his hat-trick with another close-range goal four minutes later.
In the 71st minute, Benzema passed the ball to Malcom, helping Al-Hilal score their fourth goal. Salem Al Dawsari scored two goals, one in the 74th minute and another in the 93rd, which helped finish off the game.
After the game, Benzema shared on social media how happy he was about his unforgettable first appearance and said thanks to the fans.
“Proud of the team,” he wrote. “Thank you for the support and the warm welcome.”
Modric, Marcelo, and Vinicius were some of the Frenchman’s old teammates who wrote comments to congratulate him.
Modric used three fire emojis to comment, and Marcelo responded with a smiling face emoji that also included hearts and fire emojis.
Vinicius, who is still the only Real Madrid player so far, wrote, “KB oscuridad.”
It was a great beginning for the forward after he refused a contract offer from Al-Ittihad and chose to join Al-Hilal instead.
