Alex Iwobi received high praise from Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher after his outstanding performance in Fulham’s 3-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The 29-year-old midfielder played a central role as Fulham became only the second side to secure an away victory at Sunderland this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Super Sunday Extra Time programme, Carragher described Iwobi as a player valued for his versatility and reliability.
“For me, he’s one of those players who can play different positions, he’s a manager’s dream, especially a Marco Silva dream,” Carragher said.
Silva’s long-term trust
Carragher pointed to Marco Silva’s long-standing belief in Iwobi. The Fulham manager first signed him during his time at Everton and later brought him to Craven Cottage.
“This is a guy who spent a lot of money to bring him from Arsenal to Everton. He then took him from Everton to Fulham. He’s a huge fan and you can understand why,” Carragher added.
Iwobi has operated in multiple midfield and wide roles this season, offering tactical flexibility within Silva’s system.
His energy and work rate have made him a consistent selection in Fulham’s starting XI.
Quality beyond the numbers
Carragher also stressed that Iwobi’s technical ability is often underappreciated.
“Physically, he’s absolutely fantastic. The quality he shows, an assist from a set piece and a lovely finish as well, this quality he’s got is actually underrated. We don’t maybe speak about it enough,” he said.

Iwobi has registered three goals and three assists in the Premier League this campaign.
His influence has helped Fulham continue their push for European qualification.
