Former Arsenal winger, Theo Walcott, has claimed that the Carabao Cup final would be critical in deciding this year’s Premier League champions.
Walcott, in a chat with Monday Night Club presenter Mark Chapman, expressed belief that the match would set the tone for the rest of the campaign.
According to Chapman, if Mikel Arteta’s men lost the game to Manchester City on March, it would increase “the noise” around the team.
Walcott replied, “That’s the game – the one that essentially sets the tone for how this whole year is going to look for Arsenal.”
But a former Premier League striker Chris Sutton said: “I really don’t think the League Cup final has any bearing on the Premier League.”
The Carabao Cup final will be played a few weeks before City host the Gunners in the Premier League on April 18.
