A former France defender, Frank Leboeuf, has criticized Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez after Chelsea lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the Premier League.
He pointed to the Spaniard’s bad passing during the game, which caused problems for his teammates more than once.
Speaking on ESPN FC, Leboeuf mentioned that there was a big difference between Sanchez and his Arsenal counterpart, David Raya.
He wants the Chelsea goalkeeper to stay calm and pass the ball simply during the game, so his teammates aren’t put in a difficult position.
He said,, “We need to talk about Rob Sanchez. He is a really good goalkeeper and he made some good saves today, but we need to stop saying he is the first offensive player.
“He has trouble with his feet and he makes everyone nervous. I was jumping every time a Chelsea player passed him the ball because he’s a threat. Liam Rosenior should tell him to stop being too laid-back. He’s sort of like, I know what I’m doing.
“No, you don’t know what you’re doing. You are putting everybody in danger. It’s scary what you’re doing. I was very upset with that. You can see the difference between Raya and him. That’s maybe the difference between Arsenal and Chelsea.”
Sanchez ended the game with a 65% pass success rate, and five of his passes in his own half were wrong.
He also managed only a 33% success rate on long balls and made three saves during the game.
