The French superstar missed the first leg, which Real Madrid won 3–0 at the Santiago Bernabéu, due to a sprain in his left knee. The injury forced him to train separately and undergo treatment after experiencing persistent discomfort in recent weeks.
However, recent reports indicate that Mbappé has returned to light training and running work, suggesting his recovery is progressing well. Real Madrid’s medical staff are closely monitoring him as he pushes to be available for the decisive second leg at the Etihad Stadium.
There is optimism that Mbappé could at least make the squad for the return fixture if his knee responds positively in the coming days. The coaching staff are still expected to take a cautious approach and may limit his minutes if he is cleared to play.
Madrid already hold a commanding 3–0 advantage from the first leg, leaving Manchester City with a huge task in the return match. Even so, Mbappé’s potential return would provide another attacking option for the Spanish giants as they look to finish the job and secure a place in the next round.
