Bournemouth lost further ground in the race for European football as they were held to a fourth consecutive Premier League draw by relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor.
Andoni Iraola’s side are now unbeaten in 10 consecutive top-flight games but have drawn five of their past six – against Aston Villa, West Ham, Sunderland, Brentford and now Burnley.
The Cherries have never played continental football and are ninth – three points behind seventh-placed Brentford, who face bottom side Wolves on Monday.
The visitors threatened to score after just two minutes, but Brazilian striker Evanilson’s goalbound effort which was blocked on the line by Bashir Humphreys was the closest they came to taking the lead in the first half.
Having withstood early pressure from Bournemouth, Burnley were denied the lead by the woodwork in the 42nd minute when Jaidon Anthony arrived unmarked at the far post to strike a corner against the crossbar.
Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier brushed the outside of the post with a shot from the edge of the box at the start of the second half, but there was nothing to separate the sides despite the game opening up in the latter stages.
While Bournemouth have 41 points with eight matches to go, Burnley are eight points from safety with both West Ham and Nottingham Forest above them having a game in hand.
