Popular Nigerian TikTok creator Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, known as Peller, has spoken out to clarify his role in two controversies that have recently put his career under scrutiny, asserting that he is not personally at fault.

The issues involve a N395 million lawsuit filed by Lagos resident Osarobo Odigie, and public outrage over his unapproved visit to the palace of Oba Ewuare II in Benin City a visit that led to disciplinary actions against several palace officials, including the temporary suspension of a queen, a chief, and palace staff.

During a recent livestream, Peller explained that he cannot pay the N395 million claimed by Odigie, who accused him of recording and sharing a viral video of a January altercation at a lounge without her permission, allegedly causing defamation, harassment, and emotional distress.

The TikTok influencer noted that he had already apologised to Odigie in January and pleaded once again for her forgiveness. He also accused critics of trying to ruin him financially so that he would appear on Lucky Udu’s interviews, a platform known for featuring people experiencing hardship.

“I don’t have the money to give to the woman suing me. It feels like everyone wants me to go broke just so I can be on Lucky Udu’s show. I’m begging I’m just a small child in this, and a child cannot function without direction. I have even apologised to her before,” Peller said.

Regarding his March 6 visit to the Oba of Benin’s palace, Peller stated that he went at the request of his manager and had no intention of violating palace protocol. He emphasised that he conducted himself respectfully during the visit and that any repercussions should fall on his manager.

“My manager instructed me to go to the Oba of Benin’s palace. I was unaware until he informed me that they wanted me there. Any consequences should be handled by him. I did nothing wrong my hands are clean. When I arrived, I greeted everyone, including children, with respect. Everything now seems orchestrated,” he explained.

In light of the backlash, Peller announced the immediate suspension of his nationwide tour, citing the hostility and relentless criticism he has faced.
