Galatasaray president, Dursun Özbek, has given an update on the recovery of Nigerian footballer, Victor Osimhen.
This was after the player had a successful surgery in Istanbul on Monday.
Osimhen sustained an injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield following a challenge with French defender, Ibrahima Konaté in the first half.
The Nigerian player was only able to play the first 45 minutes and was replaced at the start of the second half, with Leroy Sané coming in to take his place.
After visiting the hospital, Özbek gave an optimistic update on Osimhen’s condition.
Özbek said via Sabah, “He’s doing very well and had a successful operation.
“We hope he can come back to play as soon as possible.”
Osimhen is likely to miss at least a month, which means he won’t be able to take part in several important games as Galatasaray try to win both their domestic titles.
During this period, the 27-year-old is set to miss league matches against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, and Kocaelispor, as well as cup games against Gençlerbirliği.
Osimhen is aiming to come back in time for Galatasaray’s big derby match against Fenerbahçe at Rams Park on April 26.
