Mabel Makun, the ex-wife of Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, has honoured her mother on her 40th birthday today.
Taking to her Instagram page to share a video of herself and her daughters dressed in gold, Mabel revealed that she was supposed to do a shoot with her mother for her 70th birthday later this year. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it.
She noted how she and her mother talked about it, looked forward to it and were going to make something beautiful. Mabel noted how this kind of grief doesn’t announce itself loudly.
“Honouring my late mum today with this video. We were supposed to do this shoot with her for her 70th birthday this year, but unfortunately, she didn’t make it. We talked about it, we looked forward to it, and we were going to make something beautiful.
This particular grief doesn’t announce itself loudly; it just sits beside you on the biggest days of your life, quiet and heavy, reminding you of who is missing. We brought her, regardless. In every breath, every smile, every step we took in front of the lens, she was there, and she is always here. Happy 40th to me, and cheers to many more years in Jesus name!”.
