A lawyer, Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau, has reportedly d!ed after being trapped inside an elevator at a hotel in Abuja.

  • An eyewitness account said the incident occurred on Monday, March 30, 2026.

The report indicated that the deceased was stuck in the lift for a prolonged period, leading to his d3ath, suspected to be from suffocation.

However, the exact cause of the incident has not been officially confirmed.

It’s is unclear whether it was due to a power outage or a mechanical fault in the elevator.

Authorities and the management of the hotel involved have issued an official statement at the time of filing this report.

The identity of the hotel has also not been disclosed.

Meanwhile friends and colleagues have taken to social media to mourn him.

“The passing of Barrister Abdulsalam Umar Ginsau has left me with a deep sense of loss and reflection,” one Usamatu Zango, wrote.

“To many, he was a teacher; but to me and countless others, he was a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration whose impact will never fade.

“I had the privilege of being his student during my primary school years between 2007 and 2008.

“Athough his time with us was short, the influence he had on my life was profound and lasting.

“He was a simple and dedicated teacher who gave his all to ensure that his students not only succeeded academically but also grew into confident and responsible individuals.

“I still remember his tireless efforts in organizing and guiding us through activities such as the Jet Club, Press Club, and quiz competitions.

“He was always present, always encouraging, and always pushing us to do better. What stood out most was how much he believed in us, even when we doubted ourselves.

“Through his mentorship, I discovered abilities in myself that I never knew I had. He taught me how to speak in public with confidence, how to present papers clearly and effectively, and how to stand before an audience without fear.

“These were not just skills for school, they became tools that have continued to shape my life long after I left primary school.

“Every time I speak or present today, I see the foundation he built in me.His influence did not end with me. Many young students of our time were shaped by his dedication and vision.

“He planted seeds of confidence and excellence in us, and those seeds continue to grow in different areas of our lives today.

“Personally, I will always be grateful for the role he played in my life. The confidence I carry, the courage to express myself, and the value I place on learning are all part of his legacy in me.

“Though he is no longer with us, his teachings and his impact remain alive in my heart.Allah Ya Jikan Malam Da Rahama Ya Gafarta Masa Ameen.”
