Nigerian superstar, Adekunle Gold, delivered what may have been one of the most captivating performances in history last night as The Macallan launched its Timeless Collection in Lagos.
The exclusive event held at The Anthonia, Ikoyi, brought together some of the country’s most prominent figures from business, media, and entertainment for an evening of rare whisky, live music, and quiet luxury.
But it was what Adekunle Gold said in the moments just before his performance raised the roof that sent speculation into overdrive about a potential partnership with one of the world’s most prestigious whisky brands.

“It feels good to partner with The Macallan. For me, this partnership is more about shared values, craft and excellence, legacy, class and the beauty of taking time to make something beautiful. Let’s get tonight started,” he said.
He then rolled back the years, performing hit songs from his extensive discography, including Sade, Many People, Don Corleone, and Coco Money.

The event, organised to mark the Nigerian debut of The Macallan Timeless Collection, drew a carefully curated guest list that included corporate executives Babajide Durosola, general manager for M-Kopa; Ayeni Adekunle, founder and CEO of BHM Holdings; and Akin Oyebode, Honourable Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Ekiti State, Nigeria; media personalities Seyitan Atigarin, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, and Fatu Ogwuche; and Nollywood star Teniola Aladese, among others.
The evening featured an exclusive tasting of The Macallan Timeless Collection — a portfolio of rare, aged single malt expressions including the showstopping 30-year-old expression, which drew audible reactions from guests.

Adekunle Gold performed with the kind of intensity that felt entirely at home in the setting, intimate, considered, and impossible to look away from. His set drew sustained applause from the room, and in the moments that followed, his words about The Macallan left little doubt that the evening represented more than a one-off appearance.
