A social media user has stirred conversation online after making bold claims about the current state of Nigeria’s Afrobeats industry, particularly referencing Mavin Records and its founder, Don Jazzy.

In a widely circulated statement, the man compared the label’s past influence to its present operations, alleging that artists signed under the imprint no longer achieve instant success as they once did.

“Back then, if Don Jazzy signs an artist, within 24 hours that artist is a superstar. But today, Mavin Records sign artists and they struggle to push them,” he claimed.

He further argued that the perceived decline in the label’s impact reflects a broader issue within the Afrobeats industry.

“If the biggest record label is struggling like this, then you as an upcoming artist should be scared. Afrobeats is dying and this is what we need to fix the problems in the industry before it’s too late,” he added.
