Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have arrested two suspects in connection with the k!lling of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Benjamin Msughaondo Une.

LIB had reported that Benjamin was beaten to d3ath by members of a community vigilante group in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State after he was allegedly mistaken for a motorcycle thief.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Edet Udeme, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in an interview with journalists on Friday, April 24, 2026 in Makurdi.

Udeme said the incident occurred between 11pm and midnight on Sunday at Major Settlement near the Buruku Local Government Secretariat, where the deceased was reportedly attacked by a group of hoodlums who accused him of stealing a motorcycle.

She said preliminary investigations revealed that the allegation was false, as documents showed that the motorcycle belonged to the deceased.

She identified the two suspects arrested in connection with the crime as Terkimbi Abumswende and Joshua Adagim, while another suspect is still at large.

Udeme added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, assuring that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
