Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has called on the Nigeria Police Force to arrest and interrogate two civilians, identified as Efe and Godwin, for their alleged roles in the extrajudicial killing of 28-year-old Mine Ogidi in Delta State.

The incident, which occurred in broad daylight on Sunday, April 26, gained national attention after a viral video showed ASP Usman Nuhu fatally shooting the suspect. Gwamnishu alleges that Efe and Godwin acted as accomplices during the apprehension.

In a video statement released Thursday night, Gwamnishu revealed that ASP Nuhu was accompanied by the two civilians to a motor park where Ogidi was intercepted with a parcel allegedly containing a firearm. The activist pointed out that neither Efe nor Godwin are members of the police force, yet they were actively involved in the operation.

According to Gwamnishu, the viral footage captures one of the civilians handing a magazine to ASP Nuhu, who then loaded his weapon and fired at Ogidi. He further alleged that the two men assisted in moving the victim’s unconscious body into a police-branded Sienna vehicle driven by Nuhu stating that there is an attempt to cover up the involvement of these two men.

Gwamnishu also raised a serious allegation against the local Area Command, claiming a recurring habit of providing police uniforms to civilians for unauthorized operations.

The activist further disclosed a more harrowing detail, alleging that after transporting the victim to the Effurun Police Division, ASP Nuhu fired additional shots at Ogidi to ensure he was dead.Gwamnishu concluded by revealing that he has faced persistent threats to his safety since bringing the incident to light. He urged the police hierarchy to ensure a transparent investigation and to hold all parties involved—including the civilian accomplices—accountable for the death of Mine Ogidi.
