Let the critics and doubters be silent. Kasey McAteer’s goal emphatically put Ipswich back into the Premier League behind a thanks to a 3-0 victory against QPR. The return to dominance comes after an up-and-down 2025 season. Ipswich has been out of Premier League play for the previous seven years.

Determined to get back to glory, Ipswich came out kicking against QPR. Even with goals from George Hirst and Jaden Philogene, there was still tension from the fans. However, McAteer’s goal made it a reality – back to Premier League play. Aware of the moment, Hirst went on to state:

“It’s been a funny old year but we did it together,” said Hirst. “This year, everyone wanted us to fail, but we’ve done it. It’s been difficult; we’ve made it hard for ourselves, but who cares? We’re back in the Premier League, and that’s all that matters.”

Fans had invaded the pitch after McAteer’s goal, climbing over advertising hoardings at either end of the stadium to join their players in celebration. Cars’ horns went off like mad in the streets.

The Long Return to Glory

Ipswich, a small team, was relegated from the Premier League due to budgetary issues. Compared to other Premier League teams, Ipswich has one of the smallest budgets, which is essential to making it through the grueling schedule. Besides giving up goals at a high rate, football experts like Bettingtop10 NG noted too many instances of Ipswich giving up leads.

Ipswich Is on the Attack

Not satisfied with their Premier League return, Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Cedric Kipre permanently. The 29-year-old defender arrived on a season-long loan deal from French side Reims last summer and played 22 times in Championship action. Kipre didn’t try to hold back his excitement about Ipswich making it back to the big leagues:

“My dream has always been to play in the Premier League. That’s why I came here.”

Through all the peaks and valleys, headman Kieran McKenna never lost confidence in his squad:

“It’s a lot of the same emotions, probably a lot more similar than different. I think there’s probably a touch more relief to this one, really. The last one was just an incredible journey, once in a lifetime for everyone involved. I think there are some characters in there that have really stepped up. “
