The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested an officer captured in a viral video behaving erratically, allegedly under the influence of illicit substances.

The footage, which surfaced recently, shows residents attempting to restrain the officer as he displayed violent and unstable behavior.

In a statement, Command Spokesperson SP Abutu Sunday confirmed the officer’s identity and subsequent detention. He noted that the Command acted immediately upon seeing the clip.

‘’The Police Sergeant, who is currently serving at Ikole-Ekiti Division Police Headquarters, is in custody, though now in a stable condition, and will be made to undergo disciplinary procedure.” Abutu said
Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has directed that the officer undergo comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations. These assessments are a prerequisite for formal disciplinary proceedings.

CP Michael emphasized that the officer’s conduct is a direct violation of the Nigeria Police Force’s professional standards and does not reflect the values of the institution.
