Reality TV star and entrepreneur, Kiddwaya, has shared insights into his family’s historical connection to Nigeria’s return to democratic rule, making bold claims about his father’s influence during the country’s political transition in the late 1990s.

According to Kiddwaya, his father played a notable advisory role during a critical moment in Nigeria’s history following the death of former military head of state, General Sani Abacha. He explained that a close friend of his father, who was second-in-command at the time, eventually assumed leadership of the country and later sought counsel from him.

Kiddwaya stated that during this period of political uncertainty, his father advised that Nigeria should move away from military governance and adopt a democratic system that would allow citizens to freely elect their leaders.

“My father told him to change the military era to a democratic system, where people can now vote,” he said, emphasizing what he described as his father’s contribution to shaping the nation’s democratic direction.

His remarks have since sparked conversations online, with many reflecting on Nigeria’s transition to civilian rule in 1999, which marked the beginning of the current democratic era after years of successive military administrations.

While Kiddwaya’s comments highlight his personal perspective and family narrative, they also add to ongoing public interest in the individuals and events that influenced Nigeria’s political evolution.
