Pastor David Ibiyeomie has urged Nigerians to reject vote buying and prioritize competence over party loyalty in elections.

He made the remarks during a sermon, warning citizens against exchanging their conscience for short-term financial gain and calling on religious leaders to avoid endorsing underperforming political candidates.

“Don’t sell your conscience. Money collected for votes lasts a week; what about 4 years? Vote competence, not party. The judiciary has weakened the system. Clergy should stop endorsing leaders they know will not deliver.”

The comment quickly circulated online, drawing reactions from users who expressed support, skepticism, and political commentary.
