A man, Femi Olamitoke, was arraigned before an Akungba-Akoko Magistrate’s Court for allegedly st@bbing a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Adeyemi Abolaji, on the right hand with a knife.

Olamitoke was brought before Magistrate K.A. Kolawole on a two-count charge bordering on assault.

The prosecution, Inspector Olasunkanmi Boboye, told the court that the incident occurred on June 8, 2026, at about 8:10pm within the Akungba-Akoko Magisterial District of Ondo State.

He described the defendant as a quarrelsome individual, adding that previous attempts had been made to resolve related disputes amicably.

Boboye further stated that the offence contravenes Section 249(D) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His counsel, Barrister Bode Wolemiwa, applied for bail, assuring the court that his client would not abscond if granted bail.

In his ruling, Magistrate Kolawole granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.

The court ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide tax clearance for the current year, while the police were directed to verify the surety’s residence.

The case was adjourned to June 24, 2026.
