Marco Palestra is reportedly on the verge of becoming a Chelsea player after the Premier League club reached an agreement with Atalanta BC for the highly-rated Italian full-back.
There are multiple reports that Chelsea have beaten Inter Milan to the 21-year-old’s signature, with the deal believed to be worth around £47.5 million (€55 million). The transfer is expected to be finalised once the remaining formalities and medical are completed.
Palestra enjoyed a standout campaign on loan at Cagliari Calcio last season, impressing with his defensive consistency and versatility. Capable of playing on both the right and left flanks, he is viewed as a perfect fit for Chelsea’s evolving tactical setup under new head coach Xabi Alonso.
Palestra came through Atalanta’s renowned youth academy before making his senior breakthrough. He enjoyed a standout loan spell at Cagliari Calcio during the 2025-26 season, making 37 Serie A appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists.
His impressive displays earned him widespread praise, with reports stating he was named Serie A Defender of the Year, while also receiving his first senior call-up for the Italy national football team, where he has already won two caps.
