Former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has spoken about Stanley Nwabali losing his shirt as the number one goalkeeper in the team.
Nwabali has not been invited to the national team by head coach Eric Chelle since his contract with Chippa United was terminated.
Troost-Ekong believes that is the reason why Chelle has turned to Maduka Okoye in recent matches.
He said: “Obviously, I can’t speak for Stanley, but based on how things have unfolded now, maybe it would’ve been a better decision to remain with Chippa.
“That’s me speaking from the outside because, of course, we don’t know what occurred between him and the club.”
Nwabali is still without a club, but would be hoping to join a new team this summer.
