DR Congo Suffers A Huge Setback Ahead Of England Clash

Michel Kuka Mboladinga, popularly known as “Lumumba Vea,” was denied a U.S. visa and could not travel to Atlanta to support DR Congo in their World Cup matches, including the clash against England.

He is famous for standing completely still during matches with one arm raised in tribute to Congolese independence leader Patrice Lumumba. There are
Reports say his visa was delayed amid heightened travel restrictions and screening linked to the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo. U.S. authorities have not publicly disclosed the specific reason for the denial, citing privacy.

Who is Lumumba Vea?

For years, Lumumba Vea has become an iconic figure in African football. Dressed in traditional attire and famously standing motionless with one arm raised in honour of Congolese independence hero Patrice Lumumba, he has been a constant presence at DR Congo’s biggest matches. His unique style of support has earned him admiration from football fans across the globe and has made him a symbol of national pride.

Despite being unable to attend, Mboladinga sent a message of support to the team, while another DR Congo fan nicknamed “Lumumba Jr.” was expected to represent him in the stands during the England match.

The Congolese supporters will hopet that they will be able to get past England when they face each othe for a place in the Round of 16.
