Obafemi Martins has sparked conversations online after sharing a thought-provoking post about Satan that quickly drew reactions from social media users.
The former Super Eagles striker posted:
“More than 1 million Churches, 4 billion members, 200 religions, fighting 1 Satan for more than 6000 years. Satan please die na.”
The remark generated mixed responses, with many internet users offering different perspectives based on their religious beliefs and personal views.
One user, Lanrey, questioned the role of humanity in the prevalence of evil, arguing that people often attribute wrongdoing solely to Satan.
According to him, the issue is not necessarily Satan’s existence but the negative influence associated with him. He wrote:
“Why are human beings full of wickedness? Why are human beings doing evil? Who is Satan? What does he represent and stand for?
“Literally, I want to believe that it’s the activities of Satan in human life that are meant to die, not Satan himself.”
To support his argument, Lanrey referenced the Bible, citing Revelation 20:1-3, which describes an angel binding Satan and casting him into the bottomless pit for a thousand years to prevent him from deceiving the nations.
Martins’ post has since continued to generate discussion, with users debating the meaning behind his statement and sharing various interpretations of spiritual beliefs and the nature of evil.
