Human rights activist and 2027 presidential hopeful Omoyele Sowore has sparked widespread reactions after unveiling a bold governance proposal, promising to appoint Artificial Intelligence (AI) as Nigeria’s “Minister of Finance” and a drone as “Minister of Defence” if elected president in 2027.
In a post shared on X, Sowore said AI would eliminate human manipulation, waste and corruption in public finance by making transparent, data-driven decisions. He also said drones would redefine national security through modern surveillance, rapid response, precision and accountability.
The proposal quickly went viral, with many Nigerians debating whether Sowore was speaking literally or using the idea to advocate for greater use of technology in governance.
Reacting, Commr Sherif Abdulsalam asked, “Who go operate the drones.”
Akindele Rotimi wrote, “A lot of people don’t get the message.”
Ejiro Joyce Richard commented, “No words for now.”
David Enilolobo said, “AI don’t work on nothing. We don’t even have a database that AI can work with, and drone? he must think the whole of Nigeria ends in his living room.”
Otobong Paul wrote, “Buhari made himself minister for petroleum. We later lost 210 trillion Naira though… Let us allow Peter Obi to lead, let’s see how it goes.”
Francis Kelvin commented, “See how people are displaying their ignorance here, so sad sad 😢.”
