A Kano State High Court on Friday, July 24, 2026, sentenced Abdulkadir to d3ath by hanging after finding him guilty of m8rdering a newly married woman, Rumasa’u Shuaibu,23.
Justice Farida Dan Baffa of High Court No. 22 delivered the judgement, holding that the prosecution proved the charge of culpable homicide beyond reasonable doubt.
During the trial, the prosecution called three witnesses, while the defendant testified in his own defence before the court delivered its verdict.
According to the evidence before the court, Abdulkadir visited the deceased at her residence in 2025, where he allegedly k!lled her after she informed him that she was pregnant with his child rather than her husband’s, Daily Trust reported.
The court also heard that the deceased demanded N500,000 from him and threatened to expose their relationship if he failed to pay.
After reviewing the evidence and submissions of both parties, Justice Dan Baffa ruled that the prosecution had established the offence beyond reasonable doubt and consequently sentenced the defendant to d3ath by hanging.
