The Plateau State Police Command has arrested another suspect in connection with the alleged mob k!lling of 25-year-old model, Ibrahim Mbaya in Jos.
LIB reported that Mbaya, a University of Jos graduate popularly known as Ibee, was accused of stealing an iPhone and brutally beaten by the suspects.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Yusuf Christopher Beskeni, a University of Jos Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) presidential aspirant, was arrested following credible intelligence gathered by detectives investigating the case.
Four other suspects were earlier arrested in connection with the k!lling.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 after the parade of the suspect.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations indicate that Beskeni allegedly took part in the assault on Mbaya, including helping to tie him to a pole while he was being tortured by members of the mob.
The PPRO said the assault ultimately led to Mbaya’s d3ath.
Alabo added that investigations are ongoing, and authorities say efforts are being intensified to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
The Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Usman Sheikh Adamu, assured the deceased’s family and residents of Plateau State that the Command would ensure that everyone found responsible faces the full weight of the law.
“The Plateau State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that it has recorded another significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the alleged culpable homicide of Ibrahim Mbaya, following the arrest of an additional suspect connected to the tragic incident,” the statement read.
“While acting upon credible intelligence gathered, our detectives arrested one Yusuf Christopher Beskeni, male, 24 years old.
“Preliminary investigation and evidence gathered revealed that the suspect allegedly played an active role in the unlawful assault on the deceased.
“He is specifically alleged to have participated in tying the deceased to a pole while he was subjected to severe torture by members of the mob, an act which ultimately resulted in the victim’s death.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody while efforts are been intensified to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
“The Acting Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, DCP Usman Sheikh Adamu, psc, MNIPS assures the family of the deceased and the good people of Plateau State that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that all those responsible for the torture and eventual death of Ibrahim Mbaya face the full weight of the law.”
