A man has been arraigned before a Kano Magistrate’s Court for allegedly conspiring with others to k!ll his father.
The suspect, Nura Usman, alongside his father’s former wife, Izzatu Aliyu, was brought before Magistrate’s Court No. 26, sitting at Nomansland and presided over by Magistrate Sakina Aminu.
They were charged with conspiracy to commit an offence and attempted m8rder.
Prosecuting counsel, Barrister A.I. Buhari, told the court that it was a fresh charge and sought permission for it to be read to the defendants.
The court granted the request, after which the clerk, Awaisu Jajira, read the charges to the accused persons.
Following the reading of the charges, the prosecutor requested an adjournment to enable the prosecution obtain further directives from the government.
Magistrate Yusuf granted the request and adjourned the case until September 7, 2026, for the re-arraignment of the defendants.
The prosecution alleged that Nura, described as the complainant’s son, and Izzatu, his former wife, conspired with others and offered them N500,000 to k!ll the complainant, Alhaji Usman Shanono, a resident of Dan Tsinke.
According to the prosecution, the person allegedly contracted to carry out the k!lling later informed Alhaji Usman that his son and former wife had offered him N500,000 to m8rder him.
The prosecution further alleged that a plan was subsequently staged to make it appear that Alhaji Usman had been k!lled, with his wristwatch taken as evidence.
The development reportedly led to the commencement of mourning rites, during which Alhaji Usman suddenly appeared alongside security personnel.
The security operatives subsequently arrested the suspects after it was discovered that the alleged assassination had not taken place.
