Content creator Isbea U has strongly criticised those using veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan Ogogo’s cancer diagnosis to mock or attack him over his political allegiance to President Bola Tinubu.
Ogogo, widely known and respected for his contributions to the Nigerian film industry, is currently battling stage-four cancer. His daughters recently made the actor’s health condition public, prompting an outpouring of concern and support from fans, colleagues and well-wishers.
Reacting to the controversy on X, Isbea U urged people to put politics aside and focus on supporting the ailing actor. She described attempts to link Ogogo’s illness to his political views as insensitive and unnecessary.
He wrote:
“Ogogo has stage 4 cancer, if you don’t have any necessary information that can help him, then please just pray for him …. Enough of blaming it on him supporting Tinubu, Legend or Not, A human like us is fighting for his life for God sake.”
His reaction followed a post by comedian MC Lively, who has reportedly deleted the controversial post.
MC Lively had shared an old video of Ogogo publicly expressing his support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The post appeared to draw attention to the actor’s political position while he is currently dealing with a serious health challenge.
The post quickly attracted backlash from social media users who considered the timing and context inappropriate, particularly given the severity of Ogogo’s condition.
Joining the growing criticism, Isbea U maintained that political differences should not overshadow the fact that a human being is currently fighting for his life.
He urged Nigerians to offer prayers and useful assistance to the veteran actor rather than using his illness as a basis for political arguments.
