Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stirred reactions after making a fresh political statement involving Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Wike spoke on Friday while addressing journalists during an inspection exercise in Abuja, amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Rivers State governor suggested that Adeleke is now part of a broader political arrangement supporting President Tinubu, describing the emerging alliance as a “Rainbow Coalition.”
According to Wike, Adeleke is fully backing the President, while more political developments are expected in the coming weeks.
“So, Adeleke is fully supporting Mr President and so we had to meet last night and encourage ourselves to continue. In the next few weeks, watch what is going to happen. You will see the Rainbow Coalition in this country supporting Mr President,” Wike said.
He went on to make a striking remark about Adeleke’s political affiliation, saying, “Adeleke belongs to us and we all belong to Mr President.”
Wike also appeared confident about the strength of the emerging political alignment, suggesting that the 2027 election battle could be settled even before voting takes place.
His comments come amid increased speculation over Adeleke’s political future following his recent interactions with Wike and President Tinubu. However, Adeleke’s campaign council has pushed back against reports that the Osun governor is preparing to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his meeting with Tinubu as a routine courtesy engagement.
