Nigerian singer Rybeena has revealed that he and his wife, content creator and actress Kidbaby, have decided not to have a child in Nigeria, citing concerns about the country’s economy, living conditions and social environment.
Speaking on the Wahala Podcast, Rybeena said his personal experiences and his view of Nigeria’s current situation influenced the couple’s decision about parenthood.
“Because of my experience and the way the country is, we are far behind among other countries even though we have most richest people in Africa,” he said.
The singer also expressed concerns about Nigeria’s economy and what he described as a shared mentality among many people in the country.
“Our economy and everything. So us having a child here is messed up for real. Everyone here has the same mentality kind of common and it really matters,” he added.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning why he chose to publicly share such a private family decision, while others said his concerns about raising children in Nigeria were understandable.
