An Igbo man who has three children – all girls – has weighed in on Dangote’s answer when asked if he would still try to have a son.

Media personality Ojy Okpe, while interviewing Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote, had asked him if he still hoped to have a son, considering cultural expectations surrounding male heirs.

“Right now, that one is not really my priority,” Dangote replied. “Today as we speak, God controls everything. Sometimes, you can pray for a son, but that son might be the one to bring the family name down.”

“Sometimes when God doesn’t give you something, don’t push. I don’t think a son would have done better than the three daughters that I have,” Dangote added.

Actor Ifeanyi Patrick, who has three daughters just like Dangote, took to his Facebook account to share that he agrees with the billionaire industrialist.

He wrote: “I just watched the interview Dangote had with Ojy Okpe of Arise  News, where she asked him if he still wanted a male heir to carry on the family name. The man laughed and said his three daughters are more than enough for him. They will take care of everything, and he doesn’t need to force anything from God, who has His reasons.

“I laughed because some people who don’t have a dime to their name are shouting, “I need a son to carry on my legacy when I d1e!” Some are ready to fight heaven and earth to make it happen.

“My people, the richest man in Africa is not losing sleep over a male heir, but some of us are still calculating how many sons we need to inherit the one house we are yet to build.

“As for me, I will tow Dangote’s path. I have three wonderful daughters, and they are more than enough for me. I don’t need a son to validate my name or carry on my legacy. My daughters are my pride, my joy, and my greatest investment.

“All I pray for is good health, wisdom, and enough wealth to give them a beautiful life. I want to see them grow into strong, independent women who will never have to depend on anyone to prove their worth.

If God blesses me with riches, my daughters will enjoy the fruits of my labour. If I don’t become rich, I will still give them the best of what I have.

“The legacy I want to leave behind is not just a name carried by a son. It is the love I showed my children, the values I taught them, and the lives they go on to touch.

“Three daughters, one proud father, and a legacy of love. That is enough for me.”
