Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has joined colleagues and fans in mourning the death of veteran actor Olu Jacobs, describing him as a true legend whose impact on the Nigerian film industry will not be forgotten.
Funke Akindele shared her tribute on her Instagram Story and X page on Wednesday, September 16, following the announcement of Olu Jacobs’ death at the age of 84.
Reflecting on the late actor’s contribution to the industry, Akindele highlighted his kindness and willingness to support younger talents throughout his career.
“A true legend, a kind and gracious man who was always willing to support, encourage and uplift young talents. Your remarkable legacy and contribution to our industry will never be forgotten,” Akindele wrote.
The actress also extended her condolences to Olu Jacobs’ wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, their children and other members of the Jacobs family.
“My heartfelt condolences to Aunty Joke Silva, the children, the entire Jacobs family and the Nigerian film industry. May God comfort and strengthen everyone during this difficult time,” she added.
Akindele further prayed for the eternal rest of the late actor while asking God to bless others in the creative industry with good health and longevity.
“May God grant Uncle Olu eternal rest, and may He bless all of us in the creative industry with good health and long life. Amen,” she said.
