A bitter custody battle over a seriously ill baby has reached the highest court in the US.
A woman named McKenna West from Alaska lost her battle in the highest court in America on Tuesday.
She was supposed to carry a baby for a couple from Los Angeles, but she changed her mind and decided to keep the baby instead.
The couple, Nasheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed, paid West 60,000 dollars to have their baby for them.
But when doctors found out the baby had a serious heart problem while still in the womb, West refused to end the pregnancy.
She went to Texas where she could have the baby safely, and the baby was born in August.
Now both West and the couple are fighting over who gets to raise the baby.
West says she is worried the couple will not give the baby the medical help he needs for his heart.
She even said she would stop fighting for the baby if the couple promised to take care of him properly.
But the couple says West is just trying to steal their baby from them.
Every court in California, Texas, and now the Supreme Court has told West no.
The couple won.
They also sued West for at least 100,000 dollars.
The baby, whom the couple calls Rumi, is now with his parents getting the medical treatment he needs.
