Nollywood actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh has sparked reactions online after sharing a birthday tribute to controversial socialite Bobrisky.
The actress accompanied her lengthy birthday message with a N2 million cash gift, but it was her choice of words in the tribute that attracted the most attention from social media users.
While celebrating Bobrisky, Tonto described the socialite as her “brother,” “anchor,” and one of the most dependable people in her life. She also referred to the N2 million gift as “breakfast money” for the birthday celebrant.
Reflecting on their friendship, Tonto recalled a moment when she told Bobrisky it was “time for war.” According to her, Bobrisky did not hesitate or ask questions before responding, “How far are we going to fight?”
The actress described such loyalty as rare and something she deeply values in their relationship.
However, many social media users focused on Tonto’s repeated use of male pronouns and the word “man” while referring to Bobrisky.
She also ended the tribute with the statement: “This is BOB, MY FRIEND IN WHOM I AM PLEASED.”
The wording generated discussions online, particularly because Bobrisky has publicly identified as a woman over the years. Some social media users interpreted Tonto’s choice of words as a deliberate statement about how she views her longtime friend.
Amid the reactions, Bobrisky appeared more focused on appreciating the birthday gesture and Tonto’s friendship.
Taking to his Instagram story, he thanked the actress for the generous gift, writing:
“Perform your Transactions Conveniently with When ur bestie gave you 2m for ur birthday gift, thanks that completion of mama @tontolet.”
His response indicated that he chose to appreciate the birthday gesture rather than address the debate surrounding the wording of Tonto’s tribute.
