Social commentator Lord Zeus has reacted to the chieftaincy title reportedly conferred on Nigerian First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, questioning why other prominent Igbo women have not received similar recognition.
In a statement shared online, Lord Zeus argued that the decision was particularly disappointing because several Igbo women have made significant contributions to Nigeria and the Igbo community.
“What’s More Painful About This Chieftaincy Title Given To Tinubu’s Wife Is That There Are Women In Igbo Land Who Have Done Far More For Our People And Our Country And Who Deserve Such Recognition And Honour. Women Like Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dora Akunyili, Oby Ezekwesili, And Many Other Great Igbo Women Have Made Significant Contributions, Yet None Of Them Has Received Such Recognition And Honour. It’s Unfortunate That We Have These So-Called Elders And Traditional Leaders Bringing Disgrace To The Igbo Nation.”
His remarks have triggered reactions online, with some social media users supporting his position while others defended the traditional leaders involved.
