France coach Zinedine Zidane has handed winger Ousmane Dembele the captain’s armband ahead of their upcoming Nations League clash against Belgium on Monday.
This follows the departure of Kylian Mbappe from camp due to injury.
Mbappe had scored the only goal as Les Bleus won 1-0 in Turkey on Friday.
But he sustained a tendon injury in his left knee during the clash in Kocaeli.
The French Football Federation has already confirmed that Mbappe will not travel to Belgium.
The forward has flown back to Madrid to begin his rehabilitation process.
L’Equipe reports that Dembele is set to captain the national team for the very first time in his career.
