The FCT Police Command has arrested one Zazzayanu Halilu for allegedly r@ping a 12-year-old girl inside a car on Oct. 2nd.
According to SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the command, the arrest was effected after operatives while on routine patrol around Airport Bridge Taxi Park, observed a fully tinted navy blue Volkswagen vehicle with registration number KMC567LQ parked with its windows wound up. However, the vehicle was shaking.
Adeh said the officers, suspecting foul play, approached the vehicle and opened it, only to see the suspect r@ping the minor.
She stated that following the discovery, the suspect was promptly arrested and the victim was rescued. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had, on several occasions, lured and sexu@lly abused the underaged victim in the said vehicle parked at the same location, with threats to “deal with her” if she reveals the abuse to anyone.
Adeh said medical examination also revealed that the victim is about three months pregnant as a result of the abuse. She said the victim is currently receiving medical care and assessment, while the suspect remains in Police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
She appealed to members of the public to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883.
