Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has advised single women to be intentional when choosing a partner, stressing that being chosen by a man should not be the only reason to accept a relationship or marriage proposal.
The actress shared the advice during a recent episode of her podcast, which was published on her YouTube channel.
Adegbite noted that some women may agree to relationships simply because a man has shown interest in them or is ready to settle down. She, however, encouraged women to also consider whether the person is genuinely compatible with them.
According to her, the focus should not be on the fact that a prospective partner has chosen them, but on whether both individuals can build a healthy and supportive relationship together.
The actress also spoke about relationships involving older women and younger men. She advised women not to accept a proposal simply because a younger man is interested in them, urging them to consider qualities such as respect and emotional maturity.
Adegbite said age should not be the deciding factor when choosing a life partner, as compatibility and the ability to build together are more important.
“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you; whether he’s younger, older or exactly your age, the question is always: Can we love, support, and build with each other?
Because at the end of the day, we are not looking for numbers. We are looking for a partner. And if that partner happens to be younger, that is also fine,” she said.
