Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate Doris Ogala has intensified her grassroots mobilisation across Abia State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Ogala, who emerged as the AAC candidate for the election, has continued to campaign against the administration of Governor Alex Otti, declaring her intention to defeat the incumbent at the polls.
The actress-turned-politician has in recent months positioned her campaign around what she described as the need to rescue and liberate Abians, while also promising a different approach to political mobilisation.
During a recent campaign appearance, Ogala maintained that she was determined to unseat Otti and take her message directly to residents across the state.
Her growing grassroots activities come as political activity gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 election. Ogala has previously described her governorship ambition as a “divine mandate” and criticised aspects of Otti’s administration, including issues around electricity, the Ariaria Market and pensions.
She has also claimed that her campaign style is influencing other politicians in Abia, saying opponents have become more active whenever she intensifies her own activities.
Ogala is expected to face Otti, who is seeking a second term on the platform of the Labour Party, in what is shaping up to be a closely watched political contest in the state.
