Nollywood actress Awele Odita has called Kunle Afod’s estranged wife, Desola Afod, to order concerning her controversial statement about disrespect in Nollywood.
Awele Odita shared a video of herself dancing on her Instagram page with a strict but warm warning to Desola Afod to personally address those who disrespected her.
She blatantly told her not to insult the industry because some of the actresses she might be referring to are quite older than her. She urged Desola to rephrase her statement and show respect to the said ‘eyin oni film yi’.
“Adesola, disrespecting AWON NI FILM YI is a big NO for me! If someone has disrespected you in the industry, mention the person’s name instead of insulting everyone by saying “Ẹ̀yin oní film yìí.” Some of these actresses are older than you, and you may not even know their ages. Respect is something you give to others, regardless of their age or status. Please, rephrase your statement and show respect to EYIN ONI FILM YI,”Awele Odita captioned her dance video.

Wumi Toriola took to her verified social media page to call out Desola Afod over her controversial statement that those in ‘theatre’ disrespect her. Desola had previously warned younger Nollywood practitioners who constantly disrespect her to watch out because she is not their mate.
In what was viewed as disrespect to the entire Yoruba movie industry, the mother of one told Kunle’s ex-wife to name those who disrespected her rather than disrespecting the industry. She urged her to start bearing her father’s name if her ex’s name is giving her problems.
Reacting to the development, Nollywood actors such as Arike Akinyanju, Nkechi Blessing, Yetunde Bakare, Seyi Edun, Yetunde Barnabas, and Tosin Olaniyan took to Wumi Toriola’s comment section to validate her point.
