Cristiano Ronaldo has boldly reaffirmed his belief that he is the greatest footballer in history while expressing frustration over the constant focus on his pursuit of 1,000 career goals.
The Portuguese superstar believes the attention on the milestone is overshadowing his current performances, insisting people should appreciate what he is achieving on the pitch rather than obsessing over how many goals he still needs to score.
“People aren’t appreciating what I’m doing right now. They’re more concerned with how many goals I have left to reach 1,000,” Ronaldo said.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward made it clear that it’s not his career to be defined solely by chasing a numerical milestone.
“I don’t like that. Things have to happen naturally. Whether I score 920, 925 or 930 goals.
Ronaldo, who has built his career around extraordinary goal-scoring consistency, remains confident about his place in football history. He believes his achievements in front of goal provide sufficient evidence to support his claim.
“I’m the greatest player in history. When it comes to scoring goals, the numbers speak for themselves. I am not going to say I have to reach 1,000 goals. If I get there, fantastic.”
Despite his ambition to reach the historic 1,000-goal mark, Ronaldo insists that achieving the milestone is not something he considers an absolute requirement.
Ronaldo’s says his legacy is beyond 1,000 Goals
Ronaldo’s comments highlight his desire to be. Ronaldo points to his goal-scoring numbers and longevity as evidence of his greatness, supporte;s of Messi and other football legends often highlight different achievements and qualities.
Reaching 1,000 official senior career goals would represent another extraordinary milestone for Ronaldo. However, the Portuguese icon appears determined to let his performances determine whether he reaches that target, rather than allowing the number to become the defining measure of his legacy.
For Ronaldo, the message is clear: appreciate what he is doing now, and let history judge the rest.
