Here is the latest injury update provided by Chelsea following the noticeable absence of Reece James in their weekend fixture against Bournemouth.
Chelsea in a surprise statement in the early hours of today have given fresh injury update following the unmissable absence of captain Reece James in the 5-1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Chelsea have confirmed that captain Reece James has undergone successful minor knee surgery following an injury sustained during training.
The 26-year-old defender was absent from Chelsea’s 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as the club’s medical team carried out assessments to determine the extent of his injury. The examinations subsequently confirmed that surgery was necessary.
In an official statement, Chelsea confirmed that James had successfully undergone the procedure and had already begun his rehabilitation.
“Reece has already begun his road to recovery and will be supported by the club’s medical department at Cobham during this rehabilitation phase,” the club stated.
Chelsea also wished their captain a speedy recovery, pledging to support him throughout his rehabilitation as he works towards a return to action.
The club has not provided a specific timeline for James’ return to competitive football. His recovery will be monitored by Chelsea’s medical department at the club’s Cobham training centre.
James’ absence is a setback for Chelsea, with the England international serving as captain and an important figure in the team. The defender has endured several injury setbacks in recent seasons, making his recovery and eventual return to full fitness a key concern for the club.
For now, Chelsea will hope the successful procedure allows James to focus on his rehabilitation and return to the pitch as soon as he is ready.
