Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, has spoken about the singer’s ability to recover from controversies, revealing that situations he believes could end another artiste’s career often appear to have little lasting effect on the singer’s popularity.
Asika made the remarks while discussing his experience working with the Nigerian music star, noting that Davido continues to enjoy public acceptance even after situations that leave his team wondering how he will bounce back.
“There are some things I’ve seen David do, I’m like, someone else did this. They will never ever get back from this. Sometimes I’m like, yeah, it’s over.
“I don’t know how we’re going to bounce back from this. Everybody wakes up tomorrow morning and they’re like, yeah, nothing happened. He’s loved,” he said.
Asika describes Davido as a walking billboard
The talent manager also highlighted Davido’s commercial appeal, describing him as a walking billboard and revealing that brands regularly approach him with requests to feature their products.
According to Asika, some companies are interested in having the singer hold their products briefly or include them in his videos.
“Yeah. So I said, David’s a walking billboard. I have emails from brands being like, I just want David to like, hold this bottle for like 20 minutes or put in his video.
“Like I haven’t paid for music videos with our own money,” he added.
His comments highlight the singer’s appeal to brands and the commercial opportunities that come with his popularity in the entertainment industry.
Nigerians react to Davido’s popularity
The remarks have generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users attributing Davido’s continued acceptance to his financial influence, while others praised his relationship with fans.

“That’s not so true.. it’s our nature here to move on from everything. A president plunged the nation into 3x more p0verty on his first day at work and everybody moved on like nothing happened. Another one commissioned a national airline that doesn’t exist, everybody moved on. Truth is, nothing moves Nigerians enough to h8te you, not even if you kpai them.”

However, Godswill offered a different perspective, highlighting the singer’s connection with his supporters and the loyalty he has built over the years.

“Davido’s level of love and acceptance in the entertainment industry is truly something special. ❤️🔥 There are artistes who can make one mistake and face serious backlash for months, but Davido has built a connection with his fans that goes beyond music.
His personality, generosity, consistency, and the relationship he has with his supporters all play a role in that. However, being loved doesn’t mean he is above criticism; it simply means people are often willing to forgive him and move on quickly.
Davido is one of those artistes whose influence goes beyond hit songs. His fan base is loyal, and that kind of support is not built overnight.
At the end of the day, fame can get you attention, but genuine love from people is what keeps you relevant for years. 001 is truly a special case in the Nigerian music industry!”
